DC Day One

This morning we drove into Washington, D.C. for the first time.  Before going to our hotel we took a quick drive around the Mall to get our first glimpse of the capitol buildings and the Smithsonian.  It dumped rain on the way in, which made it look kind of cool... and the kids loved the huge rain drops.



After that, we got ourselves checked into our hotel, returned our rental car, and headed back to the Mall, where we met up with Eric and Liz and kids for a guided tour of the Capitol Building.  Here's the tunnel we went through from the Senator's Office to the Capitol,


and the very short ride we took a bit further.



It's a pretty impressive building.

After our tour we headed to dinner at a fun Mexican restaurant.



The ceiling here was awesome.



And, I liked this part too.
